RUN YOUR RACE WITH WINGS

January 26th 2020 the world lost one of the greatest basketball players to ever live. Regardless of how you personally felt about Kobe Bryant, the level of determination and self discipline it takes to become the very best is something we all could incorporate into our lives. So, on January 26th, when this horrible news was heard and felt all over the world, my heart ached. My heart ached not because the world lost a great athlete, but because a wife lost a husband, children lost their father, in addition to all the other souls that were lost that day. It made me think about my family. When my team began to have discussions on how we would pay homage to Kobe, we didn’t want it to be just another design; we wanted it to be a statement/work of art, from the type of fabric we chose, to the minor details within the design. The fabric is 65% POLYESTER 35% COTTON 350GSM COTTON FLEECE WATERPROOF FABRIC. We incorporated the wings to symbolize his transcendence. The wings are joined by the number 8, which was his first number out of high school. Eight also represents infinity because legends never truly die. The number 24 symbolizes second chances, which is something we all need sometimes. We changed our staple rubber patch to purple and gold. Ironically, the quote on the patch, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation,” is from a John Wooden quote.  John Wooden was a Laker player and a Laker coach, who eventually became a great motivational speaker. We went through several different designs for the main design, finally, settling on his image as a stand alone, which we believe is very powerful. Everything within the design is distressed, symbolic of the path of greatness is not an easy one. All of these details and thoughts went into bringing you this piece of art.
